Undergraduate

SME has 2 national experimental teaching centers( Engineering Training Center and Mechanical Engineering Experimental Teaching Center). There are 2 undergraduate majors: Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation( including Japanese Strengthening, International Class, and Innovation Class) and Measurement and Control Technology and Instrument.

The number of teaching staff are 219, of which 52 are professors, and 73 associate professors, including 2 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), 2 Yangtze River scholar professors, 2 “The Thousand Talents Program” professors, 2 national high-level personnel of special support program professors, 2 National Outstanding Youth Funds winners, 1 National University Distinguished Teacher Award winner and 3 National “ 973” Project chief scientists.

SME has a second- level national key discipline and 2 first- level provincial key disciplines. There has the ministerial-level key lab of precision and special processing, the provincial- level key labs of micro nano technology and system, the ministerial- level key labs of precision or special processing and micro manufacturing technology, the ministerial engineering research center of molding article and other scientific research bases. Additionally, Collaborative Innovation Center of Major Machine Manufacture in Liaoning got the certificates of national accreditation.

SME has signed cooperative training agreements with UCI, ASU, the University of Queensland and other foreign universities. SME can recommend excellent students to have further study at home and abroad.

Major Introduction

1. Mechanical Design Manufacture and Automation Major

Mechanical Design Manufacture and Automation has become the national special major through the certification of national engineering education in 2010. It has evaluated by experts in 2016. Students who study this major are primarily being trained to learn basic theories and techniques of mechanical design manufacture and automation, get basic knowledge of micro electronic technology, computer technology and information processing technology, and receive fundamental training of modern mechanical engineer. The major cultivates mechanical senior talents who have mechanical engineering technology basis and industrial management knowledge, are able to engage in the design, manufacture and research of mechanical and electrical integration equipment, the research and manufacture of major mechanical equipment system, and have the ability to research, develop and manage advanced technology. This major has 4 directions, including Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, Mechanical Design and Automation, Mechatronic Engineering and Hoisting Machinery.

2. Measurement and Control Technology and Instrument Major

Students who study this major are primarily being trained to learn the mechanics of precision instruments, electrics and optics fundamental theory, measurement and control theory and design method about measurement and control instruments. They receive the training of modern measurement and control technology and instrument application in order to have the ability of using as well as designing and developing measurement and control technology and instrument system, basic theories and techniques of mechanical design manufacture and automation, get basic knowledge of micro electronic technology, computer technology and information processing technology, and get fundamental training of modern mechanical engineer. The major cultivates senior engineering and technical talents who have the basic knowledge and application ability of precision instrument design and manufacture as well as measurement and control, and are able to engage in the design and manufacture, technology and development, application and research, and operations management parts about technology, instruments and system in the measurement and control field.
